Test 109

Th1/Th2 ratio of CD4+ T lymphocytes

What it is

Study of the CD3+CD4+ Th1, Th2 and Th17 lymphocyte subsets, identified by intracellular staining for IFNg, IL4 and IL17 respectively, to measure the Th1/Th2 ratio. Reported as a relative result (percentage) of total lymphocytes in culture. Intracellular staining after culture is the only methodology tested in the clinical trials that have linked an increased Th1/Th2 ratio to repeated implantation failure, showing the benefit of immunomodulatory treatments: Tacrolimus treatment in women with repeated implantation failures - PubMed (nih.gov) Tacrolimus Improves the Implantation Rate in Patients with Elevated Th1/2 Helper Cell Ratio and Repeated Implantation Failure (RIF) - PubMed (nih.gov) Immunosuppressive treatment using tacrolimus promotes pregnancy outcome in infertile women with repeated implantation failures - PubMed (nih.gov)
